The down side to this is that I was planning on going to work in the morning for a breakfast they are doing to celebrate nurses' week. We will see what happens when my alarm goes of at 6:30 am! Most likely I will turn it off and roll over and sleep in. I originally was planning on sleeping in and going to the lunch at 12:30, but it was cancelled along with other things due to the roll out of the new physician order entry on the computer.
Speaking of CPOE, most of the doctors in the NICU have been very good with the computer system despite the flaws that have been popping up. A few of the flaws we will have to live with and the ones that pose a safety risk are being fixed ASAP to prevent errors. I love it when the doctor looks at me frustrated as though I have the power to fix these programing errors!
The last three nights I worked I was a super user for the new system and the charge nurse for the night. Our unit census has remained somewhat slow which may be a blessing during this time of transition into the computer, but I did get two twins on a transport the other night which boosted our census a little. But on the flip side a few were discharged the next day.
Well off to bed I go; hopefully I can fall asleep.

So...did you get up and go to do the breakfast, or did you sleep in? ;)
I slept in until 12 noon. It felt so good! I stayed up until 2:30am!
