After living in San Diego for 4 years while in college, I have never made a trip to the Del Mar Racetrack. I had my first experience at the races on Monday. Our Medical Director bought tickets for the NICU administration team to take a "Retreat at the Races". He rented out an area right at the level of the racetrack so we could really see all the horses up close. This was really nice; we all left work around 1230 to make it to the first race at 2pm. I was surprised that each race was spread out so long. They occurred about every 30 minutes. As I was looking at the program for each race, I couldn't help wondering who actually named all the horses. They come up with some pretty interesting names...none of which I can remember at the moment! It was such a nice afternoon to spend with my fellow workers outside of the work setting. Many of the docters, nurse practitioners, managers, educators, ect. were there to hang out for the afternoon.
